District Overview
*Approximately 1200 computers in our schools
(Macintosh, Dell, HP)
*Student/Computer ratio is approximately 4 to
1.
*Teacher/Computer ratio is 1 to 1.
*All classrooms have internet access.
*Computer lessons begin at the Kindergarten
level.
*Each elementary has one Mac lab. Student and
teacher computers are also located in the classrooms.
*Harrison County Middle has 3 Windows platform labs and several Macs in
the library. Each teacher has a computer in his/her classroom and access
to a mobile cart containing 15 Macbooks. Middle school teachers also have
access to two carts containing a total of 70 ipods to use during classroom
instruction.
*Harrison County High has 4 Windows platform labs and one Mac lab. Each
teacher has a computer in his/her classroom and access to a mobile cart
containing 15 Dell student laptops. High school teachers also have access
to a cart containing 35 ipods to use during classroom instruction.
*Several teachers across the district have incorporated the use of iPads
into their instruction.
*All teachers have access to a lab where he/she
can conduct lessons that integrate technology into their classroom
curriculum.
*Teachers also integrate technology in their
regular
classrooms by use of Classroom Performance Systems,
projectors, digital cameras, scanners, various
software programs, and more.
*Technology lessons are designed to help
students meet the national technology standards.
