Change to No Child Left
Behind Status
When the No Child Left Behind Reports (NCLB)
were made public in September 2009,
Harrison County (as a district) was identified as a district meeting all
13
of its performance goals, scoring a 100% and meeting Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP).
However, the Department of Education found computation errors
affecting 30 school districts across the state. Harrison County scores
were
re-calculated and the changes that were made caused Harrison County
Schools
to not make AYP for a second consecutive year. Harrison County met 12 of
its 13 goals for the second consecutive year (92.3 %), but must meet 100%
of its goals in order to meet AYP status. Approximately 58% of the school
districts did not make AYP for the 2008-09 school year.
The district is required to inform you of this change. The district will
revise its
district improvement plan and continue its dedication of improving
instruction
for all of its students, including the identified group that did not make
AYP.
