Hello Eastside families,

Cookie dough pick-up will be on Wednesday, April 4 from 3:30-5:30 in Eastside’s cafeteria. Since we do not have freezer space to store the unbelievable amounts of cookie dough our amazing students sold, please pick up any items your child ordered on Wednesday.

Hello Eastside families,

Just a reminder that all lost and found items will be donated to the Harrison County Clothing Closet on March 1. If your child has misplaced an article of clothing in the past few months, please stop by Eastside’s office to see if we have the item.

Dear Eastside families,

• Glass vases and/or balloons are not allowed on our school buses. These items can be safety hazards in a moving vehicle and therefore, cannot be allowed on buses. If your child receives a gift or delivery containing glass or balloons for Valentine’s Day, someone will need to come pick up these items in the office.

•We have a large inventory of lost and found items including coats, sweatshirts, sweaters, hats, etc. These items have been here for quite some time with few being claimed. On Thursday, March 1, these articles of clothing will be donated to the Harrison County Clothing Closet. If your child has lost an article of clothing, please come to Eastside between now and March 1 to see if any of this attire belongs to your child.

•There will be no school on Monday, February 20 in observance of Presidents’ Day.

•March 5 was scheduled in the school calendar as a staff work day. We will be using Monday, March 5 to make up the day we missed for snow on Friday, January 13. School will be in session for all students on Monday, March 5.

•Due to our reduced allotment of funding from the state, Eastside will be conducting an Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough fundraiser during March. These are the cookies sold by Subway. You will receive more information about this event on Wednesday, February 29.

Hello Eastside families,

January 30 was originally scheduled as a staff work day in the school calendar. However, since we missed Tuesday, January 3 for snow, we will be using Monday, January 30 to make up the missed day. School will be in session on a regular schedule for all students and staff on Monday, January 30.

This is a great opportunity to make up a snow day when students are still in "school mode" and not yet dreaming of summer vacation.

Eastside will be celebrating Grandparents' Day on two Fridays in September. On Friday, September 16, kindergarten, first and second grades will be inviting grandparents to come to lunch and visit their classrooms. On Friday, September 23, third, fourth, and fifth grade classes will be enjoying visits from their grandparents.

Each day, we will begin lunch at 10:30 and conclude our activities at 1:00. Although it will be difficult to leave your little ones at 1:00, I ask that you leave the students at Eastside to continue their school day.

We look forward with anticipation to this annual event and can't wait to see all our proud grandparents and excited students!

The first week of school at Eastside Elementary went well. Our kindergarteners seem to be settling in and our new fifth graders are setting an excellent example for the younger students. We are looking forward to another successful school year!

Have a safe and wonderful summer! Read some good books, play outside, write a story, spend time with family and friends, practice math facts, eat some fresh watermelon and peaches, learn something every day!

Eastside's summer hours are 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. The office is closed July 7-14.
