    Research Paper Grading Rubric
    Thesis/introduction
    Clear focus of paper is expressed in the Thesis
    Introduction lays out a road map for the paper
    Purpose of paper is clear in the introduction
    Topics to be covered are included in the introduction

    Focus/Organization
    Logical order of sequence
    Paragraphs deal with one subject
    Logical transitions
    Clear purpose
    Clarity of ideas
    Topics dealt with completely

    Quality of Research
    Primary Sources
    Most up to date and current sources
    Facts and Statistics to support thesis
    Thorough use of source
    Meeting required number of sources
    Sources used equally

    Documentation
    Follow prescribed use of MLA documentation style
    All use of source material must be documented
    Documented material must be included in the work-cited page
    Follow MLA from manual
    All use of sources are well documented
    Quotations are marked with quotation marks and documented
    Facts and statistics are documented
    Common knowledge does not need to be documented
    Documentation is through parenthetical notation

    Body (Circular Thinking)
    All paragraphs relate to thesis.
    Main points relate in to the thesis.
    Quotes relate directly to main points.
    Conclusion summarizes main points.
    Proper length to cover topic
    Is well documented with parenthetical notations

    Conclusion
    Shows that you proved your thesis
    Includes your reaction to main topic
    Is clear to the reader that you met your purpose of the paper
    Is the last paragraph of the paper

    Vocabulary
    Terminology suited to topic and grade level
    Spell and use terminology properly
    Use sentence variety with effective word choice

    Mechanics
    Follow prescribed format of research paper

    Spelling, punctuation, capitalization

    Choose either MLA or Author-Date and stay with that form
