We will have two full weeks of classes until testing week. During testing week classes will not meet on a regular schedule. I have told students that they especially need to put forth effort in the upcoming and final days of the school year.
ALL CLASSES WILL LEARN ABOUT THE FOUR STEPS USED TO CRITIQUE ART THIS WEEK. They will put these steps into practice also.
6th grade will finish their origami projects on Monday. They are learning to fold a frog and a box. Some students brought their marbled paper book that they bound home on Fri. others will bring theirs home on Mon. On Tues. we will begin a unit on color theory. Students will practic mixing tempera colors creating a color wheel. After this practice students will begin a floral painting. They will study the art of Georgia O’Keeffe for inspiration.
7th grade students finished up the interiors of their model homes on Friday. They will take a break from building to view a video titled “A Roman City” to learn of the influence of ancient Greece & Rome on architecture. After the video is completed students will get back to their models to finish up the exterior.
8th grade students finished their mobiles on Friday. They look really nice. They will reflect upon that project in writing by evaluating their work. Students will also view a short video about artist, John James Audubon on Mon. They will next read about another early American artist named Thomas Cole. They will have questions to answer about this artist before they turn the assignment in on Wed. Their next project will be the choice of a landscape or an animal painting. They will start by using a grid to draw the image in proportion. They will work on this project for the remainder of the week.
