Due to the recent snow days the test scheduled for tomorrow will now be given on Wednesday, February 17th.
We will be wrapping up Europe this week. Students should complete new material on Wednesday and begin their study guides. The unit test will be on Friday. This will look different than most assessments and students know this. For this test students will be asked to complete a 5 Themes of Geography Chart based on what they know about Europe. This is subject to change depending on the weather this week.
Students have received a Document Based Question for South America. These are due on Monday, December 14.
Students will have a test tomorrow over our unit on Central America. The test includes twenty multiple choice questions and one short constructed response. Students have been working on a study guide the past two days and we reviewed all of the answers today. I will also be grading notebooks starting tomorrow. This is a large grade and it is very important that students have their notebooks organized and complete.
I collected DBQs this week and I still have about 10 students who have not turned in one. Please check with your child (or in Parent Portal) and encourage them to get this completed if they have not already done so.
We will taking our unit test over North America on Friday, September 25. This test will include 20 multiple choice questions and one extended response. Students started a study guide today and should leave class tomorrow with a correct and complete study guide.
Our first Document Based Question (DBQ) will be distributed today and is due on Tuesday, September 22. DBQs include a main question, a set of documents (writings, maps, pictures, graphs, etc.) that will help you in answering the question, a set of guiding questions (to help you work towards a correct and complete answer) and a blank page for your final written answer. These packets can be overwhelming to students at first. I am planning to give very little instruction for the first DBQ. I like to see what the students can do on their own and then design my instruction for future DBQs based on their strengths and areas for growth. We will be working on DBQs all year and students will have the skill mastered by the spring! Please email me if you have any questions.
