The map quiz over Central America and the Caribbean has been pushed back to Wednesday, November 20! you will have a few more days to study so I expect everyone to do GREAT!
We have started our new unit on Central America and the Caribbean. This will be a short unit that we should have all wrapped up by Thanksgiving. There are no menu projects for this unit, but students will be taking a map quiz. Students completed their maps on Friday (11/1) and should be studying for their quiz. The quiz will cover countries 1-13 on the map and is tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 15.
A Veterans Day Essay on the topic “What Patriotism Means to Me” was completed this week. They were due at the end of class Thursday, October 31. I have about 15 students who have still not turned them in. Please check with your child about this essay and let me know if you have any questions. This piece will be going in the students’ writing folders and I must have one from each child.
Menu items are due Wednesday!
Wednesday we will complete a study guide for our North America test. The test will be Thursday!
Friday is our first Candy Crush Reward Day so we will be on a modified schedule. There is also a dance after school.
I hope that everyone had a great time at their elementary school today. Remember, menu projects are due Wednesday, October 23rd. This is the Wedensday after fall break. I do not accept late projects so make sure that you have these ready to turn in on Wednesday. Have a good break.

Map Quiz Information: Students will label a map of the 50 US states. Students will be given an alphabetical list of the states to use during the quiz. Please start studying NOW!
Menu Activities: Students will be given a “menu” of possible activities for North America. The activites range from vocabulary worksheets to researching and presenting information on current events of the region. Projects range from 20 to 80 points. Students will be required to complete 100 points. Menu activities are due Wednesday, October 23 and I will NOT accept any late projects. While students may have a few minutes to work on these in class after finishing the day’s activity, the majority of this work will be completed at home.

There is also a dance after school on Friday. Admission is $5 and you must have a ride by 5:00. Due to the dance, there will be no concessions sold during 7th period on Friday.

If everything goes as planned we should finish up our Geography/Culture early next week. We will be reviewing for our unit test on Wendesday (18th) next week and our test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 20th.
