My class WILL be having an Easter party on Friday, April 18th. Students will be bringing home more information later this week.

Also, information about our “end of the year” field trip will be coming home very soon. Parents ARE invited to attend!! The date for that trip is June 2nd.

Thursday, March 6th, Northside students will be having spring pictures taken. Also, at 7:00 pm at the high school, we will be having our music program. (Fifth graders need to bring their recorders!!)

On Friday, March 7th, fifth grade classes will be hosting a dance right after school. I hope all fifth graders will come!! (The price is $5.00.)

I am SO thankful to be back to school today!!! I believe the students are, as well, although they probably wouldn’t admit to it!!

My homeroom will be having a spelling test on Friday. Students should have their words with them today – just in case there are more snow days this week. (Please study!!)

Also, ALL fifth graders need to be reading AR books for this nine weeks. Remember, each child has a certain number of “points” he/she has to get each nine weeks. This is part of their grade!!

Students interested in being on the “Battle of the Books” team should also be reading from that list, as well.

Our Christmas party will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 12:45pm. We will be having refreshments and a gift exchange. Girls should bring an appropriate gift for a girl and boys should bring an appropriate gift for a boy. (Please keep gifts in the $5-7 price range.) Parents are welcome to attend!!

Fifth grade students began taking the MAP test today. I took the students for the Reading portion. Most students showed an improvement in their scores. (Yeah!)

Mid-term reports for the second nine weeks will go home on Monday, November 25th. On that same day, Northside will be hosting the fifth grade “Pow Wow”! Students from all over the county will be coming for this occasion. Parents, if you have signed up (or would like to sign up) to help out in anyway, please let one of the fifth grade teachers know as soon as possible. We need volunteers to help out that day, as well as people to send in food for the feast.

Halloween Party

Our class will be having a Halloween party on October 31st from 12:45-1:35. Children may dress up for the entire day, if they’d like. Parents are welcome to attend!!

Friday, October 4th will be “Art Day” at Northside for all students. Students will participate in various art-related activities all day. Students should wear older clothes since they will be painting, etc. Hopefully, students will learn a lot and have fun doing it!!

We WILL have our regular spelling test on Friday, since there will be a break from art during lunch.

We will be having Junior Achievement Day today. There will be no Spelling test this week, due to the shortened week. (No school for students on Friday due to a teacher work day.)

Tomorrow: Students need to have the Preamble memorized.
Monday, Sept. 30th – Cookie dough order form and money is due. Keep selling!!

Grandparents’ Day will be held for fifth grade on Thursday. Our class will be eating lunch around 11:05 that day. We are looking forward to having many grandparents visit our classroom and eat lunch with us!!
