This week will be Dr. Seuss spirit week! Listed below are the events for each day:
Monday – Dress for Success (School pictures, also!!)
Tuesday – Crazy socks
Wednesday – Crazy hair/backwards clothes
Thursday – Black/white (zebra print)
Friday – Hat day
The story we will be reading this week is, “Where Does Food Come From?”. Parents, please have your child read this story each night. There is a copy of it in his/her folder. There will be a test over the story on Friday. Spelling words are also in folders. Spelling test will be Friday, as well. Please have your children study for the tests each week. I have been very pleased with most of the results!
Graded work folders will be coming home today. Please remove the work before sending the folder back! If you have any questions/concerns over your child or his/her work, please let me know.

We will NOT have a new list of spelling words next week due to only having two days of school. Our author visit will be Monday afternoon. I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving with their families. Please have your child continue to read each night while they’re off from school.
Our music program will be Thursday, December 4th at Harrison County High School. Students should plan to arrive around 6:30 pm that evening. The program starts at 7:00. I look forward to seeing many of you that night!
Our Halloween party will be held on Friday, October 31 at 2:00. Students are permitted to wear costumes that day. Parents are welcome to attend!
Also, our field trip to EKU is Thursday, October 30th. We will leave school at 8:30 am and return around 2:15.
Please have your children practice their spelling words each night, as well as read as often as possible. Good practice makes perfect!!!
We will have ART Day here at Northside all day Friday.
Fall Break will be from October 13-17th.

Grandparents’ Day will be held on September 9th, beginning at 10:30. Our class eats around 11:30.
August 13th will be the first day of school for students. Open House was a huge success last night as I was able to meet almost all of my students and their families!! I’m looking forward to a fabulous year with some fine first graders!!
