    Okay my previous post stated that I wanted to be a lot farther in multiplication than we are. I am feeling stress to fill the gaps with the new standards system and to be at a certain level and I think I have been stressing out some of the students. As long as we get there by the end of the year we will be fine. But I have some students who can barely do their 2s and then I have some students who don't need multiplication practice and have moved on to division. I am going to focus on 4s this whole week. I will move on to 5s & 6s the week we come back from Fall Break. We have a 15-20 minutes of pure Math Facts practice each day at school. I pair the kids up with other students working on the same facts as they are. My goal is that all the students  will know their facts through the 12s by Christmas. It may still be on the district common assessments but that is just a tool to let me and you know where they are. They should also be able to use arrays & repeated addition to figure out the products they haven't memorized. Hopefully this will give them more time to focus on each number. 

    I will still have a 15-20 minutes of pure Math Facts practice each day and I want them still practicing at home but know you can you focus on one number a week. We will finish the week working on multiplication & division. When we come back we will practice telling time, drawing the minute & hour hands in and elapsed time. Then a week about bar graphs while still doing a few minutes of straight multiplication each day.
