Welcome, Fall!
by Administrator

Fall is officially upon us!  Football and soccer are rolling, along with fall baseball.  The weather is cooling off, and we have had our Fall Festival.  Thanks to all who made our Fall Festival this weekend such a success!

K-2 families, At the end of this week or the beginning of this one, you should be on the lookout for a "Reading Connections" newsletter.  This is packed with ideas of ways that you can help your children with reading and writing.  The 3 R's (Readin', Ritin', and Rithmetic) are still the backbone of your child's education, and should be part of your family routine.  This newsletter will be coming home monthly to your homes.  Extra copies will always be available at the information station in our front lobby as well.

Study tip- When riding in the car, you own your child's time.  Turn off the radio and quiz spelling words, math facts, or have them read to you.  Begin a story, and take turns filling in the pieces.

Fall Festival Preparations Underway!
by Administrator

Our PTO is rolling full-speed towards September 27th, as we prepare for Fall Festival.  It promises to be a great time, as always, and we look forward to seeing you there.  A big "Thank you!" to everyone who has sent in donations for the silent auction and food items for our chili supper.

Thanks, also, to everyone who ordered from Market Day! I know there was a big crowd picking up on Friday night, and we are working to streamline the process.  I don't think they were ready for such a great turnout!  Westside had several parent volunteers there unloading the truck and filling orders, and we really appreciate your time.

Grandparents Day
by Administrator

Our Grandparents Days will be on September 9th for K-1, September 10th for 2-3, and September 11th for 4-5.  At Westside we host a breakfast for grandparents from 8:30-9:30.  They will have an opportunity to see classrooms prior to heading to the cafeteria for some entertainment and delicious food.

So far this year, our students have really given 100%!  The younger students are adjusting quickly to being in school, and the older students are stepping easily into their leadership roles.
