March 26

Monday, March 26th, 2012

This week we will be reading Henry and Mudge and Mrs. Hopper’s House from our big reading book.  Our spelling words will include suffix -ly and -ful.  In math this week, we will continue stations.  The students had a great time doing them last week and think it is working out to be a great way to review previously learned concepts for them.

A few reminders:  Don’t forget to be sending in candy filled Easter eggs for our egg hunt which will be on April 6th.  Also, spring break is right around the corner with it being April 9th – April 13th.

I hope everyone has a great week!

March 19

Monday, March 19th, 2012

This week we will be reading Peter’s Chair.  We will be focusing on working and playing together with our families and other activities you can do as a family.  Our spelling words this week will be compound words.  They will be longer than usual because of this but encourage your child to break them down and then spell one word at a time.  I know they can do it!  In math this week we will be starting something new.  We will be working in math stations reviewing a new concept each day.  We will continue to review each concept learned throughout the year this last nine weeks of school.

There are no reminders for this week, so everyone Have A GREAT Week!!!

This week we will be reading The Lady in the Moon. Our spelling words will concentrate on words with the long vowel i, spelled ie or igh.  Our spelling and comprehension assessments will be on Thursday this week.  In math this week we will focus on reviewing concepts we have covered over the last several weeks.  We will be preparing for our next common assessment which will be given next week.  This week we will also be doing several assessments to prepare for report cards.

Don’t forget there is no school on Friday, March 16th!  Have a great week 🙂
