Dress Code
Students should dress appropriately for school. Clothing that causes the child to be distracted from his or her work or distracts others from learning is inappropriate. Children should dress according to the weather. The philosophy of Eastside Elementary School is that the parents of the students are directly responsible for the appearance and the dress of their child. Parents should see that each student comes to school clean, well-groomed, and appropriately dressed at all times. The following is a guide for students as they dress for school:
Any type of hat or winter covering should be removed upon entering the building. Students can wear hoodies but should not wear hood on head while in school.
No clothing may be worn which depicts profanity, alcohol, tobacco or has sexual connotations.
Shirts need to cover torso and private areas appropriately. Spaghetti straps are not permitted.
Clothing should not be altered or modified in any revealing way.
Pants/shorts must be worn to cover entire backside.
No undergarments should be showing.
Shorts/shirts/dresses should be finger-tip length (not short shorts or mini-skirts)
Shoes must be worn at all times.
Make-up is not permitted. The only exceptions include (Halloween, 5th grade fancy dinner, participating in the talent show and the 5th grade wax museum).
Hair color will not be addressed unless it becomes disruptive to the learning environment.
Dress for Physical Education
Students are required to have gym shoes on the day that physical education class is scheduled. Students are required to wear clothing that allows comfort and movement (shorts, jeans, sweats, T-shirts, etc.). If students wear inappropriate clothing or shoes their lesson will be modified due to safety.
