Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! Let me start by expressing what a tremendous honor it is to be Northside's new principal - to be given the opportunity to serve the students, parents, and community of Harrison County is a blessing.

This year is a homecoming for me. As a long-time Cynthiana/Harrison County resident, I am a graduate of Harrison County Schools. This is year 16 for me as an educator - the first 13 years were spent at Harrison County High School as a Social Studies teacher. I absolutely loved teaching so many wonderful students. In 2018, I accepted a position as Assistant Principal at Grant County High School and over the past two years have enjoyed learning and growing as a leader/educator. My wife, Andrea (Short), and I have been married 19 years. We have two beautiful children, Isaac and Abigail. We are proud of our community, and our school system.

I am very excited for the new school year! Our theme is "Safe. Supported. Successful." Because of COVID-19, it will certainly be an unusual year, but no matter what form(s) school takes, Northside faculty/staff will rise to the challenge to faithfully serve our students and families.

I will be in the office most days this summer. Since being in the building the past few weeks, I've been fortunate to meet most of my staff, and a few of my students, too. If you are out and about, please stop by and say "hello!" I'm excited to get to know and build relationships with everyone.

Go Northside Mustangs!

Very Best,

Joshua R. Powers - Principal, Northside Elementary School
