Meet The Teacher: Eastside Elementary!
Ms. Heltzel is not a new face to Eastside Elementary, however, she will be taking on a new role as a third grade teacher this fall.
"Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, I first moved to Harrison County in April of 2019 to participate in the Boyd’s Station 306.36 project. As the writer, I travelled the county documenting the transition from tobacco to hemp, religious denominations, and other daily happenings in the community. That 5-month stay wasn’t nearly enough as I had fallen for the rolling hills and tight-knit network of good-natured people. In October of 2021, Boyd’s Station brought me back to Harrison County as a director of programs. Between gallery exhibitions and odd jobs around the farm, I worked as a substitute teacher for Harrison County Schools. I am honored to be a member of Harrison County, Eastside Elementary, and Boyd’s Station communities. I look forward to teaching 3rd grade and learning from all of the talented educators that have paved the way."
