Helping Hands

A special “thank you” to everyone who contributed to our Western Kentucky “Lift Mayfield” item drive.  Within a very short window of time, we did an outstanding job of offering products in demand during a truly horrific time.  We dropped off a nearly-full 16 foot trailer of supplies to Leesburg Christian Church.  This was in coordination with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department. They were ultimately sending three (3) large moving trucks worth of items to the western part of the state.  I also wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Fleming and her 7th grade Maroon Team for their quick response to this need and the initial call to action.

Please continue to lift our western Kentucky brethren up in thought and prayer during this Christmas season…. and beyond.

Along those lines, I wish to express my sincere thanks to all of my “school family” for closing out 2021 in the strongest position of the year.  Relatively speaking, that might not be saying all that much as I am not necessarily going to miss the year 2021.  However, I’ve proactively tried to change that very mindset as the year has progressed.  I’ve come to grips with the notion that maybe the ebbs and the valleys in life are as crucial as the flows and summits (likely more so).  The summits have a much sweeter view when you’ve experienced adversity.  That’s where my mind is as we close out 2021.

There was sorrow for many of us.  But through those sorrows (personally and/or professionally), perhaps there’s a “sweeter summit” to appreciate in 2022.  A new year brings forward that optimism. I can say this- the small and often overlooked blessings of before no longer get as shuffled to the background. That’s a good thing.

Appreciate EVERYTHING.  Recognition of small blessings and the personal growth that came through the valley of adversity were definitely worth the 2021 ride.

I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2022.  As we all reflect on the closeout of 2021, may we all be wise enough to recognize that there were countless blessings along this most recent lap around the sun.  Search for them. They’re there.
