Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! Northside’s team of amazing teachers and staff look forward to working with parents and community members to make this a GREAT year.
Northside faculty and staff had a very busy summer! In June, we held an excellent summer school for many of our students. A big “thank you” to our community partners and exemplary staff who gave their time and efforts to our students! In July, our staff will be enjoying some much-needed rest and leisure/family time. We hope you will do the same.
The new school year always brings some exciting changes. Northside returns with an awesome group of student-centered educators, including a few new professionals. Northside’s theme this year is a Wizard Oz spin-off – “There’s No Place Like Northside”, and “Follow the Leader in Me.” Our goal is to foster and celebrate student leadership at Northside. To complete our online registration, please visit our district website, www.harrison.kyschools.us, and click “Online Registration, OLR” on the top right. Among other information, you will need your children’s social security number, your driver's license number, your Primary Care Physician's phone number, etc. We are happy to help you if assistance is needed.
When school begins, your child’s teacher will invite you to join ‘ClassDojo’, which is our free, school-wide messaging app. It is important to join this classroom group to receive timely announcements and feedback from your child’s teachers. Using this app is the best way to reach your child’s teacher and communicate any needs that you may have.
As you plan for the 2023-2024 school year, please know that breakfast and lunch are free for all students in Harrison County. Additionally, all school supplies have been provided by the Harrison County Board of Education. We do encourage the purchase of supplies to be used at home, and we recommend the use of a backpack each day at school. Northside teachers will place completed work, report cards, and communication items in your child’s backpack.
Finally, car dismissal will run much like it did last year, wrapping the dismissal line around the staff parking lot. Northside faculty and staff ask that you please pull forward as far as possible (keeping right) to allow for a safe dismissal. Each student will have a dismissal card that should be placed on the front dash where it is easily seen. A staff member will come out and begin collecting the names of car riders. As always, please alert us as soon as possible regarding any transportation changes.
There is so much more to share! I look forward to seeing our students and parents at Open House on Tuesday, August 8th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The first day of school is Thursday, August 10th.
