Harrison County Schools proudly recognizes Ginny Barnes, District Gifted and Talented Teacher, as a Golden Horseshoe Award recipient for October. Mrs. Barnes goes above and beyond in her role, serving multiple schools with dedication and enthusiasm. Her servant leadership shines through in every task, she willingly helps wherever needed and continually advocates for students to ensure they receive the enrichment and opportunities they deserve. Mrs. Barnes care for her work and her students is evident in all she does, making her an invaluable part of our district team.
Angela Wiglesworth, Special Education Assistant at Southside Elementary, is also honored as a Golden Horseshoe Award recipient for October. Angie provides crucial support within the special education department, always stepping up to meet challenges with a proactive and positive attitude. Angie shows compassion through her great sense of humor for both staff and students. Her dedication to creating a supportive learning environment makes her an exceptional role model and a true asset to Southside Elementary.

School Bus Safety Week also emphasizes the vital role played by our school bus drivers. With hundreds of Harrison County students being transported on school buses each day, it is crucial to prioritize safety measures to guarantee that children get to school and return home safely.

Reminder, Early Release date for this month is October 29, 2025



Harrison Counties first grade students were able to join the high school and middle school FFA members at the fairgrounds today for our Annual AG Literacy Day! It was a fun filled day of reading and learning all about pumpkins. Students were able to pick out a pumpkin to take home along with other pumpkin resources.
