As we celebrate School Counselor Appreciation week at Northside, we would like to recognize our School Counselor, Mrs. Tiffeney Schaad. School Counselors help students and families set healthy, realistic goals, and focus on whole-child education by fostering and supporting academic, personal, and social-emotional development. Mrs. Schaad does all these things and more. This year, Mrs. Schaad was the first ever Harrison County Schools Certified ‘Golden Horseshoe’ recipient.
We love you and we are proud of you, Mrs. Schaad. Thank you for all you do for Northside Elementary!

FRYSC coordinators build relationships between schools, homes, and communities to support families and help students succeed. We would like to take time to thank FRYSC coordinators for all their hard work. They provide an invaluable service with the main goal of helping each student to learn to their fullest potential and to be successful into adulthood. Please join us in celebrating Family Resource and Youth Services Center coordinators. #fryscstrong #whateverittakes #kybuilt

Did you know your child can use the link provided to take Accelerated Reader quizzes online between the hours of 7:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m. each day. That means if we miss school and your child finishes their book they can take the quiz without being at school.

Hello, Northside Families!
A friendly reminder for this time of year: The building is nice and warm, but the temperature can vary from room to room. It is always a good idea to dress in layers.
Regarding NTI, student work is due one week after each NTI day is called. For example, NTI Day #1 was Tuesday, 01/16/2024. Therefore, assignments from NTI Day #1 are due on Tuesday, 01/23/2024.
As always, be watching social media, and our school websites regarding school schedule changes.
Have a wonderful day!

Bring your library books back to school when we return.

Dear Northside Families,
As a friendly reminder: In Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., there will be no school on Monday, January 15, 2024.
"Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a better person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in."
--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on the March for Integrated Schools, April 18, 1959.

Happy Holidays from Northside.

Too many sweet treats for Mr. Grinch!

More Grinch shenanigans from the week. Tuesday, Mr. Grinch is 'collecting' mail for Santa to take to the North Pole. Wednesday, Mr. Grinch is dreaming about "The Night Before Christmas," which we will read and enjoy school-wide today.

Today, all students at Northside spent a few minutes reading the Christmas classic, "The Night Before Christmas." We were blessed with several guest readers. I didn't get a photo of everyone, but wanted to share those I was able to capture. A big thank you to all of our guests: Kristen Northcutt, Melissa Miles, Trevor Smith, Darlena Brown, Keith Merritt, Lona Rorer, and Mary June Brunker.

Its Monday mischief with the Grinch at Northside! The Grinch has tied a rope between the basketball goals and is spending his day suspended above the cafeteria. He was surprisingly difficult to find today!

One of our Christmas Elves was FINALLY able to catch Mr. Grinch for a Naughty List TIME OUT! By the look of his smile, I can see he's up to something!
