7th-grade science students in Mrs. Callahans' classes used their senses to make observations. Students were given a piece of candy, but could not use their sense of sight until they had used all their other senses to observe their candy.
The classes are working on making qualitative observations and describing characteristics. Students then had to write detailed descriptions of their candy as if someone had never had that candy before and draw it from three views.
Needless to say, this was one yummy lab!

It's time to test your knowledge! Tryouts for the middle school academic team are coming up, and we're looking for students who excel in a variety of subjects. Academic team is a great way to put your academic skills to the test in a fun, competitive environment. Students can try out for the following subjects:

8th-grade social studies students practiced gathering information from different sources and considered things like where the artifact came from, who created it, and the time and place it was made. Students worked with sources by exploring artifacts from the 1960s to the early 2000s. This activity was an introduction to sources, gearing students up for answering compelling and supporting questions with historical American History sources.

Students in Mrs. Callahan's class practiced several of the seven habits during RTI. They synergized, practiced think-win-win, and began with the end in mind as they created a plan and worked together to get Fred through the life preserver and back on the boat, just using paper clips.
